I have been studying English since I was seven. Namely, from 1973 to 1982 I attended the Workers' University of "Đuro Salaj" – the Foreign Language-Studying Center in Split, where I completed nine annual English courses.
I graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy in Zadar, with degrees of Professor of English Language and Literature and Art Historian, B.A.
I have been working as a translator/interpreter (Croatian<>English) since the late 1980s, professionally since 1992, covering the following areas, inter alia: legal, design and tender documents, reports, tenders and bills of quantities (construction, economy); scientific papers and studies (construction, economy, environmental sciences, agriculture, chemistry); user and quick guides, software localization (IT and communications technologies), meetings and conferences (construction, law, economy, ecology, sociology, culture, politics, military issues)...
In short, I have specialized in somewhat more demanding tasks. I always check and re-check my translations and furnish them within agreed deadlines. I should point out that I never work in a "robot mode", i.e. I never translate word-for-word, which is a guarantee for coherent and intended end results.
Other information
• in September 2006 I passed the classification exam for the university interdisciplinary postgraduate specialist course of Conference Interpreting at the University of Zagreb
• above-average IT literacy – all segments of various CAT programs; myriad translation memories with the total of over 650,000 units; regular maintenance of terminology – electronic Croatian<>English glossaries of my own make, with more than 200,000 units; a number of auxiliary CAT applications and macros
